A variety of on-campus and off-campus options are available for both housing and meals during the 2011 Summer Institute.  Please note that cafeteria meals are not included with dorm housing costs.  Several cafeterias and restaurants are located on campus within walking distance of the College of Music, and many restaurants deliver. See on-campus dining options. Kerr Cafeteria will be open this summer, in addition to retail locations in the Union building.

The Holiday Inn in Denton is located near the UNT campus, and has offered special rates for the AHS, Inc. 2011 Institute:  Guest room rates are $89 per night for 1-2 persons in Standard guest rooms, or $99 for 3-4 persons per room.  Suites are available for $109.  The rate includes one breakfast buffet per person daily.  Rates subject to applicable city (7%) and state (6%) taxes.  The Holiday Inn offers an indoor swimming pool and whirlpool with an outdoor deck, Lone Oak Bar and Grill & Room Service, and is ideally located near many local restaurants, historic downtown Denton, and minutes from UNT.  Complimentary shuttle service within a five mile radius of the hotel, in addition to shuttle service being provided by UNT (7am-11pm daily).  Check in time is 3pm and Check out is 12pm. OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING DEADLINE: On May 18th, 2011, these Holiday Inn hotel room blocks were released to the general public; reservations are now made on an as-available basis. To receive the special AHS, Inc. Institute rate, be sure to refer to the “American Harp Society 2011 Institute” when making your reservation by calling 940-383-4100.  Please know that these reservations are at the Holiday Inn on Centre Place Drive (not the Holiday Inn on University Avenue).

ON-CAMPUS DORM ACCOMMODATIONS

Please note:  Registration for Dorm Housing closed May 18th, 2011.

Arrangements for on-campus housing for the 2011 AHS, Inc. Institute must be made by contacting the AHS, Inc. 2011 Institute office via online form or by mailing/faxing the AHS, Inc. Dorm Housing Form. A limited number of dormitory rooms will be available in Legends Halls ($40 per single and $30 per person for double rooms), a short walk from the School of Music. Rooms will include bed and bath linens for each guest. Pillows will be provided upon request, but UNT encourages you to bring your own.  For double-occupancy rooms every two rooms are a suite and share a bathroom and common living area (men’s rooms share with men’s, women’s with women’s, and couples with couples). Single roomsshare a bathroom between adjacent rooms.  All rooms are air-conditioned. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the dormitory, and alcohol is not allowed on campus at any time. There are no televisions or telephones in sleeping rooms. Internet access for the week will be available for a small fee at the dorm’s front desk.  A continental breakfast (juice, coffee, pastries, fruit) will be available in the Legends dorm commons area each morning and is included in the dorm housing cost.  The UNT Rec Center is available for pay-per-use visits.  Please see the registration desk for details. DORM POLICIES FOR YOUNG HARPISTS: The AHS, Inc. welcomes and encourages family members to accompany young harpists to the institute, and provides a special rate for non-harpist spouses and family members.  Attendees who are under 18 as of June 19, 2011 will be required to have a guardian sign the “Medical Release” form (attached to this registration).

DORM CONFIRMATION AND DEADLINE: Please make a photocopy of your completed registration form and housing reservation form for your records. You will receive a confirmation at the email address you provide.  Please feel free to contact the AHS, Inc. 2011 Institute office with any questions you may have.  Reservations for on-campus dorm housing must be received by 5/18/2011.

DORM RESERVATION FORM: You may register for on-campus dorm housing by completing and emailing, faxing or mailing the Dorm Housing form to our AHS, Inc. 2011 Institute office; or, you may complete your registration for the institute and dorm housing online.  Payment by credit card must accompany online and faxed registration.  If sending your registration by mail instead, you may pay by check or credit card.  Please fill out one form per person, and please type or print legibly.  This form is intended for on-campus residence hall accommodation only. DO NOT send payment for off-campus hotels, but make those reservations directly with the Holiday Inn in Denton.
